Meet Jaymie!
I’m a speech-language pathologist, owner of The Thrive Hive! I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language Hearing Association and licensed through the Missouri Board of Healing Arts.
I have been a speech-language pathologist for over twenty years. I’ve worked with clients from birth to adult and love all ages. Helping others brings me great joy. I’m a compassionate and creative therapist who enjoys assisting others become more successful communicators.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Central Missouri State University in 2001 and Master’s Degree from Central Missouri State University in 2003.
I began working for the public schools in 2002. In order to achieve a better work/ family balance I started contracting with schools in 2009. In 2022, I took my first private client and fell in love with the freedom to work more closely with families, to work in different communication environments and to be able to devote more time to one person’s needs!
I believe that we all have strengths and gifts, we can all learn from each other and everyone has something to communicate. I feel very lucky to help people become better communicators as I feel that communication impacts all other areas of life
Meet Chrissy!
I am a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Adjunct Professor at Cleveland University-Kansas City for their Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. With nearly 10 years of experience in the field, my passion for occupational therapy was born from my own journey and the inspiration I drew from previous practitioners
In 2014, I earned my AAS in Occupational Therapy Assisting from National American University. Since then, I have been dedicated to delivering skilled occupational therapy services, primarily focused on pediatrics. My expertise extends to working within the school system, early intervention through First Steps, and in outpatient clinics. I also pursued a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management, which I completed in 2018. I am currently licensed to practice in both Missouri and Kansas.
Beyond my professional life, I embrace the role of a proud mother to four wonderful children. Mikalah, my eldest, is a 24-year-old registered nurse who is newly married. Jaidyn is 18 and a recent highschool graduate who is preparing for college this coming fall. Dylaina, my 17-year-old daughter is quite possibly the smartest person I know! But really, this girl is going places!
Lastly, there's my son Adrian, a 12-year-old with severe non vocal autism. Adrian has been my greatest teacher, showing me the beauty and lessons life has to offer. Despite his nonverbal communication, he radiates humor, intelligence, passion, and a zest for life. Our family is enjoying watching him learn to communicate through text messages. Witnessing his journey from a playful young boy to a spirited teenager has been an incredible experience.
Additionally, I have had the privilege of raising two stepsons on the autism spectrum, who are now transitioning into young adulthood. The strength, connection, laughter, and love shared within my family have always made me feel profoundly blessed and grateful, even on the most challenging days.
My personal experiences as a parent have instilled in me a deep understanding of the significance of therapy and have cultivated immense empathy for children in therapeutic settings and their families. I have actively pursued further education, specializing in trauma, self-regulation, sensory processing, and autism. Recently, I have ventured into private practice, focusing on working with young adults, which has become an enriching addition to my repertoire.
Looking ahead, I am driven to explore young adult job training and aim to become certified in Rainbow Yoga - Neurodivergent/Additional Needs Kids Yoga. Additionally, this summer, I plan to become a certified SibShop facilitator, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to introduce this innovative program to the exceptional siblings within our community.
I am genuinely excited about the journey ahead, filled with growth, learning, and making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with diverse needs and their families.
